High-velocity microparticle impacts are relevant to many fields from space exploration additive manufacturing and can be used help understand the physical chemical behaviors of materials under extreme dynamic conditions. Recent advances in experimental techniques for single have allowed fundamental investigations dynamical responses wide-ranging samples including soft materials, nano-composites, metals, strain rates up 108 s-1. Here we review methods high-velocity spanning 15 orders magnitude projectile mass compare method performances. This aims present a comprehensive overview impact provide reference researchers different testing facilitate design wide range impactor sizes, geometries, velocities.
